Review: Chilli Chapel *Mystery Wig*

So since the closing, re-branding and new management, of Geisha Wigs (now named "Lush Wigs"), I've had to source new and reputable wig stores that isn't from eBay or Amazon. I've had one bad wig and one wearable but low quality wig from both ebay and Amazon, So I've decided to stick with independent online stores!

And what would you know I had about 4 wig stores follow me on my Instagram account, lucky me right? One of which is "Chilli Chapel Wigs", owned by a very lovely gym bunny and alternative model Chilli Chapel.

After looking though the stores website, I decided to take the plunge and buy a mystery wig. I'm a bit of a sucker for mystery/lucky dip wigs and only was a bit dissapointed with one of two lucky dip wigs from GW, not that the wig was of bad quality- it really isn't- I got a natural wig which I guess was the only one in stock as I ordered pretty late, and the shop was closing.

So taking the plunge I bought a Mystery Wig from Chilli Chapel. I've seen a few I love on there and as soon as I ordered I wanted either a purple or blue wig.

Order placed and I'm now early awaiting for my delivery. And guess what came a day after recieving my confirmation email?

I FUCKING LOVE HELLO KITTY. Seriously, how cute?! I have an unhealthy obsession with hello kitty so this was overly happy when I saw this. And upon opening this outer package I was met with a lovely delicate tissue package containing my wig.

I was so happy I got a wig in my favourite colour.....

PURPLE!!!

Also I love the card that came with the wig, mystical warrior princess Chilli that makes me think back to my world of Warcraft playing days.

I don't exactly need to say anymore. I recommend this little business :3

Midweek madness: heat waves and online store faves closing down

Okay, I just read something that I found sad.

My favouite wig store Geisha Wigs is closing down. I honestly have to say, this shop closing down will mean for both myself and other wig lovers and cosplayers out there, we will have to do a lot of guess work on eBay and Amazon now. I love this store because not only was the products of a great quality, it was good value for money. You wouldn't open up a package and be met with a thin or unwearable wig that shows the wig cap peeping through. You wouldn't have to guess if your wig is heat resistant or not. You wouldn't have to worry about bad customer service or being met with broken English (most sellers online shop from countries such as China).

Not only that but the owner is genuinely a lovely person, I've not met her in person but she damn seems it and honestly it's a shame but there are reasons behind these decisions. So you go and do you girl.

R.i.p geisha wigs, you shall be missed I hope for the very best for you Maria.

In other news....

I am burnt like a motherfucker. I swear I litterally get to a certain tan colour and my skin is like "nope". The heatwave is taking its toll on my skin despite using factor 20. Already my news feed is filling up with grumbling Brits not dealing with the heat too well. And honestly I don't blame them but there are ways to deal with the heat. So go figure it out!

But what I can't understand was a few days ago people were like, "oooh we're gonna get thunderstorms this week!". I would like to know where the hell are these thunderstorms we were supposed to have?? It's gonna get muggy soon and that means more people I will have to unfollow (lol).

Wig shit: I HAVE MADE A HUGE MISTAKE

So you remember my lovely new lace front?
I decided to tidy it up. And by that I thought OMG STRAIGHTEN IT.

An hour and a half down I completed straightening her majesty.

Look at all that lovely hair, right? Well, yes and no. You see straightening this both has its upsides and downsides, whilst it's relatively easier to brush this out, it's rediculously long. Also I missed the flouncy curls that made this feel fucking awesome on. Having it straight looked normal, this wig in my eyes needs some flouncyness!

I have made a terrible choice! It was so hard to straighten, how the hell am I gonna manage to curl this?!? I'm feeling putting it in a style called "Hime Gyaru". It's all curly with a bit of a poof at the crown of the head. No fringe though. The style of this wig literally will not allow it (aka a HUGE seam to give the hair a windswept and interesting look).

For now, it is in its bag, braided up.

Teaches me right to fuck about!

Don't you just hate it when....

Don't you just hate it when you want to go and do something, then within the first 10 minutes of doing a task loose all hope and want to abandon ship? Being indecisive is a BITCH

So here's what I was totally in the mood to do; I really wanted to do a blog/photo post featuring me and my twin sister, wearing some over the top make up and wearing my wigs. We tend to do really silly facial expressions cause we're odd like that. No really. We have weird little things that is our thing, finger or literal dance moves and odd facial expressions when taking selfies together.

But alas, I got so annoyed with everything. My makeup wasn't over the top, my eyebrows weren't looking nice and my hair and wig cap just wasn't working. I don't think it helped I kept getting asked to do stuff, if I'm doing something I usually just want to be left alone.

Times like this is get VERY annoyed with myself. But here's to hoping I could actually do this tomorrow but on my own. If not, I'm going to give my wigs som attention.

Cosplay, wigs and gemsonas

Anyone watch Steven Universe? If not, you have to stop what you are doing, right now, and find some videos on YouTube. It's supposed to be a kids show but it's so complex and emotional.

It's about this boy called Steven Universe and he is part gem and part human, he lives with three crystal gems, to quote the theme song "Garnet, Amethyst and Pearrrl", and he's learning about being a crystal gem. It's too much for me to even explain in a blog the levels of awesome and the feels! THE FEELS!! It can be so emotional, when you get the episodes based around his mum and dad and the gems. Seriously it is so awesome!

Where was I going with this? Oh! So on this lovely world called tumblr there's this tag called "gemsona" where you basically create a gem, it can be yourself which is so cool, the possibilities are endless (please proceed with caution, like all fandoms there are explicit fanfics and art, usually found under "Steven Galaxy"). I thought "why not make my own character up?!" And I did. It's a very quick drawing but I based the gemstones I made up from the two wigs I have, a cute short pink wig (Sugarpie, by Geisha Wigs) and a majestic teal-green ombré lace front wig (Apple Sour, again, by Geisha Wigs).

(Sugarpie and Apple Sour, from Geishawigs.bigcartel.com)

(The quick doodle of my gemsonas)

HERE WE HAVE GREEN QUARTZ AND PINK SAPPHIRE!!! I know it's not the best drawing but I created something of my own. Also cosplay idea? I like making up potential cosplays, and then not using them because I don't go to conventions. How does anyone make going to conventions a job? Please point me in the right direction Jessica Nigiri-Senpai.

So the one I love right now is the Green Quartz character I have here. I thought "oh she's go the same sort of mad big hair like Rose Quartz, OMG SISTERS?!?!" I know, awesome right? In my defence anything is possible.

Thing is, when money is little, how does one cosplay? USE YOUR WARDROBE MY FRIENDS! Seriously I have ideas:
(Okay so the dress isn't the right colour, it being a blue/turquoise colour, but it's a start)

There's the start of a cosplay here, a very poor one at that but I'm only starting out. I may or may not get round to doing this, but the idea is there. There aren't any rules to tell you what's right or wrong with cosplay, and if there is someone telling you it's wrong, tell them to fuck off.
