I saw McFly on Friday. As in Friday I mean last Friday. April fools day.
You would think that almost 8 years of the band being together they would have split up by now. but they haven’t. I’m strangely happy to admit that I’ll be over the moon happy when they announce their 10 year anniversary. Cue people ripping the hell out of me.
Its weird thinking that 8 years ago I was watching SMTV Live (Oh yeah!) and then CD:UK (I now feel really old) when all of a sudden these four young boys was singing a song about some outcast with five colours in her hair and cooking in the nude. I loved them from day then on. At one point I grew an unhealthy obsession with Tom Fletcher, which was soon nipped in the bud by me having my first boyfriend (Cringe). Tom Fetcher was cute when he was a bit tubby, this was when they first started out… Now he’s all grown up and muscular. All I can say is that I’m pretty sure I can speak for every Tom Fletcher fan when I say: I WANT FAT TOM BACK!!!!!11! Okay. I honestly think that it’s great he’s in shape, he probably has more stamina now he’s fit.
…… Okay, I just realised I’m supposed to be doing a review…..
Opening bands:
1) That Sunday Feeling – Sundays you feel like crap. So were these guys
2) City Stereo – Okay, the lead singer looked like he was harshly smacked with the ugly stick, none the less I thought they were average. They kinda got the atmosphere up.
3) The Struts – Old school 80′s/70′s pop. Lead singer was trying to be like Freddie Mercury and/or David Bowie. He failed with that as he acted/looked like a bit of a prat. Didn’t like them. END OF
To be quite honest, I think the music they played during the interval of each band was really good. A bit of Tinie Tempa, Panic! At The Disco, Katy B, Mark Ronson and David Gueta to name a few. Okay I actually had no idea what other songs were playing but they were really good.
McFly: They made everyone wait for them to come on, and they teased the audience too by playing clips of them saying thank you to their fans and them talking about their website, AKA Super-Cash-Taking-Device… Umm, I mean “Supercity”. Then they came on, Which I thought was pretty average: Curtain falls, the band come out from the right of the stage just as the fireworks stop going off and the they went into the first song. about 45 minutes into the gig and a platform comes down from the ceiling to were (As they did on their last gig at Wembley) they start singing Star Girl. They then start playing Five Colours In Her Hair, half way though they bring out guns…. GUNS PEOPLE!
Okay the word Gun was a bit of a overstatement, more like an empty paintball gun. What they did next I thought was a bit out of order. They had 2 shirts each. And where do they shoot their merch? Everywhere EXCEPT from my side of the arena. Bastards. That’s all I can say… Ahahahahaa I kid.
What I also don’t understand is that everyone was hot and sweaty. SO WHY SET YOUR BAND LOGO ON FIRE AND HAVE FIRE PYROTECHNICS?!?! Honest to god I came out of that gig wet. All over. It wasn’t enjoyable.
However I did have a good time. so I’m going to rate the concert 8/10
NOW! I will give you my Top-Five-Favourite-Songs-That-Probably-Work-Out-As-One-From-Each-Of-McFly’s-Albums
Song 1: Five Colours In Her Hair (Album: Room On The Third Floor)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DXyKyAmVO5c
This is my favourite because this song made me like them, and it’s a happy song. Everyone loves a happy song don’t they? I’m guessing yes. This song also made them who they are today. If all the little children out there didn’t buy this album, they they wouldn’t have beaten the Beetles for “Worlds best selling album by a young person” or something like that, then they wouldnt be around today.
Song 2: Ultraviolet OR I Wanna Hold You (Album: Wonderland)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-GpXcDjwl5s
I know I can’t choose two but I like these two songs so much. One thing you will know about McFly songs are that they always sing about a lady. However, One goes on about the world ending and wanting to have a cuddle and the other is a really random adventure involving darts, a UV light and being intoxicated. Along with a gun and some woman called Mrs Halloween. Also this was during the bands Emo stage, where they all wore suits and had really dark hair to go with their clothes. Tom Fletcher in a suit is hawt.
Song 3: Please Please OR Friday Night OR Star Girl (Album: Motion In The Ocean)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lqJIgWeS4mU
Okay, I’m kinda taking the piss with not deciding on my one favourite song from that album. But to be quite honest I think this was one of their best albums.
Song 4: Corrupted (Album: Radio:Active)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qKME3w0w5zs
Ever since I got the free album from a newspaper that I can’t remember I have liked this song. Forget One For The Radio or Lies, this was one of their edgiest songs that they have ever made.
Song 5: Party Girl (Album: Above The Noise)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yVe–BYGS7g&feature=related
I WANT TO HEAR THIS SONG BEING PLAYED IN THE CLUBS! Seriously, I think its a really good song to get you up and dancing. I didn’t like this song when it first came out cause there is NO guitars whatsoever in the song, however when they performed it live it was really good.
ENJOY THIS BITCHES
